Potty Training Continued {giveaway!}

Although Sophia is technically day potty trained, I still say that we are in the stages of Potty Training.  Why?  Because she’s still very young – turning 2 in just 6 days!!!  She still has some accidents, although they are usually just small because she tries to “hold it” and wait until the last possible minute to make a dash for the bathroom.  I also use disposable pull-ups on her when we go on longer day trips – when we’re going to be in the car for over an hour.  She is still not night trained or nap trained, but I’m not pushing it because she isn’t ready at all.

We tried a variety of cloth training pants and although they worked great for around the house, for small accidents – they do not work for us outside of the house.  So we’ve been using disposable trainers.  I was really excited when I saw a pack of their TOTS Potty Training Pants in my 3rd Earth’s Best Blogger package!  These haven’t been available at my local Walmart so I had been using another brand that’s not so green.

I’m proud to say they’ve worked great.  We haven’t had any leaks – but then again, they’ve only been used in the car and when we’re out for day trips so Sophia doesn’t ever pee a ton in them.  They have a fun alligator design on the front that she likes and they’re trim and easy for her to pull up and down by herself.  The only drawback to them {and other disposable options} is the sides don’t velcro.  If you’re in public and have to change them, you have to take off their pants and shoes to put a new Training Pant on.

The most important thing to remember is to be sure that your child is physically and emotionally ready for potty training and to leave enough time to make the transition.  For a variety of articles, tips, and advice from other parents going through the potty training adventure, visit Earth’s Best Potty Training Tips and BabyCenter’s Potty Training Basics.
Once you begin, Earth’s Best provides a variety of products to make the process run smoothly in an environmentally friendly way. Try using our Earth’s Best TOTS-Chlorine Free- Flushable Wipes to inspire confidence in your children.

I love having a pack of the TOTS Chlorine Free Flushable Wipes on the back of Sophia’s potty when potty trips are a bit messier.  The pack is also small and soft which makes it fit nicely in the diaper bag.  The wipes are a small size and would be great for Sophia to use herself – they’re just a bit hard to pull out of the pack sometimes, so I have to help her.

Win It:  One lucky So Easy Being Green reader is going to win a package of Earth’s Best Chlorine-Free Flushable Wipes and a pack Potty Training Pants!

the real meaning of So Easy Being Green.

This blog post has been in my head for awhile now but I just hadn’t got the chance to sit down and read it.  It’s been weighing even heavier on me lately and today I am forcing myself to take a break from party decorations while both the girls are napping and write it.

When I started this blog, it was a play on words.  My original title was Not So Easy Being Green – a play on Kermit the Frog’s old saying.  I started blogging at the urging of one of my good bloggy friends, April from Marine Parents.  I was interested and she was there to guide me through it all!  Hundreds of emails later, I decided on a blog name and a theme – being a green Mommy.

It was a time in my life where I had a pretty new baby girl – Sophia was about 4 months and we were 4 months into cloth diapering {which had pretty much taken over my internet time w/  entering giveaways and reading reviews}.  I wanted to write a blog about our little family and how using cloth diapers had helped me to see my impact on the environment and how easy they really were – along with other small green steps.

Somewhere along the line, I was classified as a green blog.  Don’t get me wrong, green is in the title AND I do try to be green, but So Easy Being Green, to me, is first and foremost a Mommy Blog.  I’ve had a few readers lately ask me about “green” issues and stances on things that I frankly have no idea about.  I blog about my life as a Mommy to 2 girls under 2 {I can say it for 1 more week!} – and the small steps that our family has made to live a green-er life.

I can talk to you about green topics such as:

I don’t know a thing about:

  • Environmental Issues {for the most part}
  • Total and complete green makeover for your home.  I still use Paper Towels some, some cleaners with chemicals, disposable diapers if needed.

So, if you were under the impression that I’m a total green gal… I’m so sorry to disappoint you, but I’m just Lindsey – a Mom to Sophia and Moreaya, a wife to Rob… that has made small steps {and will continue to do so} to make our world and family a bit green-er.  Stick around because you just might see that it really is So Easy Being Green.

Fluffy Friday: incredibum Wet Bag {giveaway!}

As an incredimom, I’ve had the fabulous opportunity to try out all of incredibum’s products!  I’ve reviewed their bamboo cloth diaper, cloth wipes, and this time I received an incredibum wet bag!  When I saw the product name, wet bag, I assumed it would be a small wet bag to carry in the diaper bag for short day trips.  But I pulled it out of the package and saw, what I would normally refer to as a pail liner!  incredibum actually calls it their large wet bag!

It’s advertised as “Large Bag is perfect for vacations, day to day diaper laundry or those fun family trips to the pool. It fits perfectly into an eight gallon pail.” And it does just that!

I use it as our pail liner and it’s one of my favorites.  It’s super thick and durable and has never felt damp on the outside.  It has a drawstring closure which I love for use as a pail liner, but if I was using it as a large wet bag without a lid on top {like on vacation}, I would be afraid that smells would escape rather easily.

I love the fact that it’s reversible and comes in 2 fun colors – it gives your pail a whole new look!

I have to say… I love the incredibum bamboo cloth diaper and I love their cloth wipes, but I think the wet bag has been my favorite product so far!  All of the incredibum products are of the utmost quality and very well worth their small price tags!

Buy It:  You can purchase the Large Wet Bag for only $12.95!!!  This is a great price for a pail liner/wet bag of this quality.  The wet bag comes in 3 choices with 6 different color options.

Win It:  One lucky So Easy Being Green reader is going to win a Large incredibum wet bag of their own!
